We got up this morning to go to a nearby town that had been a gold mining town in the mid-1800s. We started out by having a tasty breakfast at the Pantry by Franks. There seem to be a number of little restaurants in the neighborhood that are "by Franks."
When we got to Arrowtown, the traffic was heavy, it was raining, and parking in the downtown area was filled up. We parked about four blocks away from the downtown and passed by this address on our walk.
After all the gold was removed from the area, it reverted to a farming community until other areas produced more and better. Then in the early 20th century came the tourists. Arrowtown has become much like Estes Park or Elk Rapids or any of a number of other small seasonal attractions.
After wandering up and down the several blocks of main street, we decided to visit the little museum at one end.

It turned out to be quite a nice little museum for the size of the town. We didn't take many photos inside but Bev did capture a label from one of the early canned goods. Yum!
This mural on the outside wall displayed a range of stories.
It continued raining throughout the afternoon. We've really had good weather for most of the trip. Only one other day can I remember our activities being curtailed by windy rainy weather.
