Another magnolia

Yet another magnolia tree for your enjoyment. I had mistakenly thought that there were not many of these deep purple blossom magnolias in our neighborhood and that they has already passed.

This shows that I was mistaken as these yet to fully open blossoms are just down at the corner of our alleyway.

After a week of cold rain, the weekend warmed up and was mostly sunny. Beverly and I spent most of Saturday at the office and since we had been under the weather most of the week tried to rest on Sunday even though the weather begged us to go out.

I was out for less than thirty minutes. The 3 in 30 you know.

Fresh Market

Turning around toward the direction of the train station, I thought to take another snapshot of the vegetable market that is merely 100 meters from our doorstep. Only recently has it been open on weekends, and particularly on Sundays. I think we are seeing more and more effects of Japan's economic unsettling. There are still shop fronts down by the train station that are seeking tenants. That they would be vacant for more than a month is not a good sign.

I thought I saw one our neighbor ladies out in front of the vegetable market, but I think she must have just stepped inside as I snapped the shutter.

Good fresh vegetables, many grown on local small plots of land.

behind the elementary school

Since the weather has been cool the past week, and the rain wasn't heavy, and the wind didn't blow too much, the cherry blossoms lasted (mostly) through this weekend. These near trees are on the school grounds of the local elementary school. In the far background are the trees in the park that were in last week's pictures.

The petals fall and blow down the street. It has been suggested that much of the spirit of the Japanese spirit is symbolized by the cherry blossoms and the cherry blossom season. Perhaps another place would be the space for such an essay.
