Today is the day we crossed the Cook Strait from Wellington on the north island to Picton on the south island. The route is actually WNW rather than south.
Heading east out of the harbor early in the morning to the mouth of the bay to the south, Jan and Bev are bundled up in the cool breeze.
We got closer to the mouth of the bay and the wind picked up and we were considering the possibility of a rough crossing but it never materialized. It was all quite calm.
Close to noon, we entered Queen Channel on our way to Picton
After a couple hours of driving, we got to our rental in Nelson. Our studio is upstairs while Mike and Jan are downstairs.
We like to do some of our own cooking rather than go to restaurants all the time. It's nice to have a little kitchen to prepare foods. This is the kitchen we have for a couple of days.
Tucked into cupboards in the wall, we had tableware, a microwave, dishcloths, plates, a French press, and a toaster. On a counter was a hot pot.
