After a good sleep and breakfast we walked to the nearby park and botanic gardens in Christchurch. First we encountered the croquet fields and watched practicing a bit as well as chatted with a man who filled us in on the niceties of real croquet. Then on Lake Victora, we watched sailboat races.
Around noon, we stopped for coffees. Here we ordered a Latte and a Canadiano (even though it said Americano on the menu.)
We were also taken by the rose garden and this Renegade in particular. There was another Scott Base that had a particularly citrus scent.
In the section that was particularly New Zealand native plants, we found the fern that we saw on our glow worm tour. That is the fern they call "hen and chicks." I'm sure you can see the little chicks growing from the larger fern frond.
We also wanted to see how Bev measured up to a New Zeland Fern head. They seem to grow ferns of extraordinary size!
