We get a last view of skyline of Christchurch from above our apartment. It stopped raining so we can actually see the bay off in the distance.
We'll be saying goodbye to the Mitsubishi that we rented. It was very similar to our old Nissan Rogue except for the shifting mechanism. It toggled up and back, pressing an additional button to get it into reverse and then another button on the shifter to put it in park. It took a bit of getting used to so we could get on down the road but we did make it more than 3,000 kilometers on the south island. Oh, and the steering wheel is on the right side of the car.
We dropped off Mike and Jan at the airport since their flight out left earlier than ours. Then we went in search of a gas station to fill up the rental. We must have driven half way through Christchurch before we found one. Finally back at the airport, we found our gate and waited for our plane to to arrive.
The flight from Christchurch to Sydney was just a little over three hours but finally Bev got her chance to put her feet on her seventh continent. Goal achieved!
And we made it to our Ibis Hotel in downtown Sydney. A nighttime view to the north is what we saw.
