Our last day in Sydney, we decided to visit the Toranga Zoo. To get there, we reserved a ferry ride across the Sydney Harbour. To get down to the quay, we took the tram the 1.3 miles instead of walking. While on the wharf waiting, we got another few pictures of the Opera House.
It was curious to see this bird on the city streets. With a beak like that, one would expect it poking around some marsh land. It seems to be an Australian White Ibis, nicknamed the “most hated bird in Australia.” In Sydney it fulfilled the role of pigeons.
Not too many pictures of animals at this zoo. This cuddly koala made me pause for a quick one.
I couldn't resist this unfolding frond from a giant fern tree taken while on a walkway twenty feet off the ground.
The zoo is really quite nice with tree-lined paths separating one exhibit from the next.
I might have liked to take this chicken home...or at least its feathers. While it didn't seem to be a part of any exhibit, it was delightfully colored and the feathers all looked in excellent condition. I can imagine hundreds of fishing flies tied using those feathers.
The boats in this sheltered Athol Bay seemed ready to party with a sandy beach nearby. Attendees were sparse compared with The Sandbar.
For our last dinner in Australia, we returned for a third time to Yayoi where Bev—for the third time—had the salmon. I think she likes salmon. I had agedashi tofu and some other things.
