We saw several companies running ferry boats to many locations; the other side of the bay, to islands, and on tours. This Manly Fast was on the harbor today. I don't know why I might not want to take a Girly Fast ferry instead. Maybe I might not be in a hurry at all?
So we walked to the harbor's edge to visit the aquarium. There were small tanks with small fish but we were more impressed with the underwater tunnels. Here an manta ray swims by nearly within reach.
The nurse sharks were looking threatening but they are described as the Irish Setters of the sea.
Some corals under black light look rather impressive.
Since Australia is in the southern hemisphere, they had to have penguins and they made good on that. Here is an enclosure with Adelie penguins. The window at this point could have been a little cleaner.
The underwater view of the Adelies was much better. It's amazing how much speed they can get using their wings that look so wimpy.
Another swimming Adelie underwater.
Then, there are the King Penguins. They are so pretty. We didn't see any of these in the wild but up close they are impressive. The aquarium also had some little Blue Penguins, the same as we saw in Oamaru and Christchurch.
We though we might spend some time at the Maritime Museum but the aquarium with all the screaming kids and inattentive parents was somewhat exhausting. Instead we looked at some of the ships docked in the harbor and didn't go inside. There were some excursion boats, a destroyer, coast guard ships, a submarine and this replica of Captain Cook's ship, the HMS Endeavour. Cook gets a lot of attention in this part of the world although in many ways, he was not a nice man.
For dinner, we went back to the Yayoi (やよい) in the World Market Mall. Bev had salmon again and Paul had unagi (eel). It was good as the night before.
