November 29
The next to the last day of November, we crossed the river in a small boat and then proceded to the Valley of the Kings, so named for the number of Pharaohs and noblemen entombed there. At all the sites that tourists visit are stalls with souvenirs for sale. Small childen walk up with a handful of items saying "One dollar. One dollar. One dollar." hoping to get you to buy some trinkets.

Nearly all the of tombs in this valley were looted in ancient times except that of Tutakenamen. Apparently a huge boulder slipped down over the obscured entrance which protected it. Further back in the hills is the Valley of the Queens but we didn’t apparently have time to go there. Not in that valley is Queen/Pharoah Hatsepsut’s Temple though not her tomb.

On the way back, we also stopped at the Ramses II Temple closer to the River. In his approximately 68 year reign, he had a lot of monuments build to himself.

A long day of touristing makes for tired little boys. Even while waiting for dinner, a nap is good.
